The NAIT Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC) will provide comprehensive support to students and industry. The Centre will enhance productivity, spur innovation, foster a deeper culture of entrepreneurship, and drive solutions to industry-driven problems through applied research. A key strategy in the design of the PIC was to develop two space types to organize the diverse set of program elements and create efficient, flexible spaces for learning and innovation.
The building is organized on the unique triangular site to address the campus context and specific use of each space. The result is a unique architectural expression that reinforces NAIT’s polytechnic campus design. The building massing has been designed to create a street presence on Princess Elizabeth Avenue that steps down towards the Westwood neighbourhood to the north. The intersection of the A and B Wings are linked by a four-storey feature atrium.
