Ethan Cohen

Associate

Ethan is a Technologist at GEC with a sharp technical mind and a calm, collaborative approach that keeps projects moving smoothly from design to construction. Over his eight years with the firm, he’s become known as someone who can navigate complexity with ease—translating vision into reality through careful coordination, problem-solving, and mentorship.

A graduate of SAIT’s Architectural Technologies program, Ethan also holds a Building Transformations P2 certification. His experience spans residential, post-secondary, commercial, recreational, and transit projects across Alberta and British Columbia. No matter the scale or scope, Ethan’s role often involves leading project documentation, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring that what gets built stays true to the design architect’s intent.

What energizes Ethan most is solving technical challenges as they arise and helping others grow through them. He’s passionate about supporting junior staff, encouraging them to think critically and build confidence in their own decision-making. It’s the same kind of mentorship that helped shape his own career—a value he now pays forward with patience and good humour.

Ethan thrives in the early stages of construction documentation, when the excitement of a new project meets the discipline of planning. His practical insight, strong work ethic, and easygoing communication style make him someone colleagues and consultants alike know they can call on to get things done. He prides himself on being approachable and responsive—qualities that keep collaboration fluid and projects on track.

Outside of work, Ethan’s creativity continues to show up in quieter ways. He loves to cook (a path he nearly pursued professionally before discovering architecture), build Lego sets and puzzles, and spend time outdoors with his wife and dog. Whether camping in summer or cheering on sports in winter, he finds balance in simple routines and time at home.

For Ethan, architecture—like cooking—is about care, process, and precision. Each project is an opportunity to learn, improve, and create something lasting, built one thoughtful detail at a time.
