With a head for complex coordination and a heart for making things, Kyla brings a builder’s brain and a maker’s spirit to every project she touches. Over her ten years at GEC, she’s become a go-to technical lead, guiding teams through the nuts and bolts of envelope design, consultant coordination, and the chaos of getting things built right.
Kyla holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina and a Diploma in Architectural Technologies from SAIT. She’s a Certified Architectural Technologist with ASET and holds a Professional 3 (P3) designation through Building Transformations—a path that reflects both her creative roots and her technical depth. Her background bridges artistry and precision, giving her a unique lens on how buildings come together.
Kyla works across all project types—from transit and education to commercial, residential, and recreation—and her portfolio stretches from British Columbia to Ontario. What unites them all is her drive to figure things out: the messier, the better. She thrives on breaking big ideas into buildable solutions, ensuring the intention behind a design survives translation into construction drawings and the real world.
Known for her problem-solving skills, Kyla leads with transparency, a relentless to-do list, and a penchant for keeping things upbeat—even in the middle of juggling multiple deadlines. She brings a sharp eye for detail, deep experience with technical platforms, and a love of learning that she quietly passes on to the teams she works with.
Outside of work, Kyla is always making something—whether it's art, cocktails, or a refinished piece of furniture. She sees the creative process in everything, from parenting to project delivery. Her dream alternate career? Industrial design—another space where form meets function. Architecture gives her that same spark: the challenge of turning ideas into tangible, well-built places that serve real needs and stand the test of time. And that’s exactly where she wants to be.
