Susanna brings a global mindset and deep operational expertise to her role as GEC’s Chief Operating Officer. Originally from the UK, she holds a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Bristol, working across continents—including Turkmenistan, Côte d'Ivoire, and Russia—before settling in Calgary, the first place outside the UK she’s ever truly called home.
Susanna oversees everything that keeps GEC running smoothly behind the scenes, including resourcing, corporate operations, safety, and IT. Her work frees up the rest of the leadership team to focus on what they do best. She describes her role simply: “The work I do gives people their superpowers back.” Her approach is collaborative and pragmatic, grounded in continuous learning and a belief that no one is ever done improving.
Susanna thrives in fast-paced environments and is skilled at solving complex problems across teams. She’s known for her direct communication style, her drive to make things better, and her ability to connect with people from all backgrounds and communication styles, refined through years of international experience and her time in the military. She believes good ideas can come from anywhere, and that the best operations work is quiet, seamless, and in service of the people it supports.
Outside the office, Susanna stays grounded by spending time with her husband and two children, biking, skiing, kayaking, and trying to run the energy out of the youngest. A passionate scuba diver and paraglider, she’s happiest when she’s chasing sea creatures or waiting on a mountaintop for the perfect weather window. It’s all fast-paced, high-stakes, and evolving—just like the work she loves.
