Véronique (Véro) approaches architecture with equal parts energy, rigour, and playfulness. As an Associate at GEC, she thrives in guiding the clients through the design process, coordinating the project team, and most importantly, keeping projects anchored to their core vision. Whether she’s energizing her team, ensuring design intent carries through to the finish line, or shaping tools like the firm’s Quality Management System, Véro brings clarity and enthusiasm to the table. She’s also a member of the BIM team, where she helps maximize digital tools and ensures younger staff are supported in their growth.
Véro studied architecture at the University of Montréal before earning her Master of Architecture at Dalhousie University. Since joining GEC in 2020, Vero has led municipal, educational, and First Nations projects across Alberta. From the intricacies of Calgary’s wastewater treatment facilities to the creativity of school design, she approaches each challenge as a chance to learn and tell a story through architecture. She especially loves the early conceptual stages, where a strong design idea can set the tone for everything to follow, as well as the construction phase, where years of effort finally become tangible. For her, nothing is more rewarding than walking through a finished project and seeing people activate the space.
Colleagues know Vero for her collaborative spirit, her directness (delivered with kindness), and her refusal to overlook details that matter. She believes beauty and functionality aren’t luxuries—they’re essential. A well-crafted building, she argues, invites people to value and care for it, thereby extending its lifespan and impact on the community.
Outside the studio, she’s often in her garden or garage, happily building, crafting, or sketching by hand. Once a certified fireworks technician (yes, really), she has a flair for the unexpected and a deep love for experiences that spark joy. Grounded by time at the ocean and energized by variety in her work, Vero approaches design and life with curiosity, care, and play.
