Servus Arena

A new chapter for sport and community activity in the heart of Red Deer.

Servus Arena, which has been rebuilt on the same site as the historic Red Deer Arena, features an NHL sized rink, bowl seating, a two-lane walking track, meeting spaces, team spaces, and warm-up areas.

The facility recently hosted to the U18 Ivan Hlinka Hockey Tournament, and will soon host men’s and women’s hockey events as part of the 2019 Canada Games. The building includes storage spaces, an upper and lower viewing lobby, and support rooms. To accommodate the varying demographics of teams that will use the space – from community programs to elite athletes – flexible multi-purpose rooms can be reconfigured easily to provide a combination of team and community change rooms simultaneously. Beyond hockey, the facility also features a variety of spaces that can be used for festivals, entertainment, trade shows, and other community events.

To commemorate the buildings history and its importance to the Red Deer community, the new lobby features the building’s original neon “Arena” sign. Public art displays celebrate Red Deer’s history and pay homage to the original 1360 seat historic Red Deer Arena, which was the venue for the City’s AAA, midget, and collegiate hockey teams, the city’s farmers’ market, and the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.

To reduce the environmental impact of the new arena development, excess heat generated from the refrigeration plant is recycled and reused to reduce the buildings operating costs.
