CLIENT City of Calgary
LOCATION Calgary, AB
GEC Architecture was engaged by the City of Calgary Land Use planning & Policy Department to conduct a feasibility study of parcels of land adjacent to the Sunalta LRT Station and new West LRT track alignment in Calgary’s West Village. The study tested various development scenarios against the current land use zoning criteria, the Sunalta Area Redevelopment Plan, and the Centre City Plan.
As part of this work, GEC conducted research into similar residential and commercial development projects and solicited input from users of these spaces. GEC then prepared three development concepts to test below grade, at grade, and above grade pakring, and the viability for basic residential, office, and mixed-use development on the sites. GEC’s findings and recommendations were summarized in a report for the City for their use to help guide future development in the Sunalta neighborhood.
