South Campus Community Ice Arena
Client University of Alberta | Location Edmonton, AB | Size 13,037m2 | Completion Ongoing
New home, new legacy.
The University of Alberta will be building a new 3,000-seat varsity arena and a 400-seat community arena as part of the plan to develop their south campus in Edmonton. The new South Campus Community Ice Arena will be the future home ice for the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas. Both arenas will be linked to an adjacent high-performance sport training facility. For the varsity arena a single, top-loaded spectator bowl is steeply raked to create a home ice advantage, while site grading allows spectators to enter at concourse level and move down to their seats.
The new building is designed to fully maximize the fan experience, right from the pre-game ceremonies to the final buzzer at the end of the game.
