A safer, smarter, and more efficient distribution centre.

At GEC, we believe the best facilities start with the people who use them. Our partnership with Uni-Select and Oxford Properties was focused on designing a distribution centre that was not just efficient, but genuinely safer and smarter for its staff.

Located in the Oxford Airport Business Park, this facility is the new operational nexus for Uni-Select’s Central Canada network. We focused on bringing diverse teams, from administrative staff to logistics experts, together in one cohesive, flexible workplace. This design intentionally integrates office, warehouse, and training spaces, fostering collaboration and ensuring everyone feels connected and supported.

The human element of safety guided every decision. Moving beyond basic compliance, we used advanced life safety and storage logistics to meet strict requirements for hazardous materials. This rigorous approach set a new benchmark for innovation, ensuring peace of mind for employees who deserve to work in the safest environment possible. (Note: Centre and organization are retained as they fit the existing warm tone and context, though CP generally favours US spelling for common words like center unless referring to an official place name.)

Ultimately, this project is a model for thoughtful design. A phased fit-out strategy was incorporated, allowing Uni-Select to comfortably evolve and scale its services without disruption: a resilient plan that guarantees long-term value and supports future workforce growth. It is more than a distribution hub; it is a stable, high-performing foundation built for the community it serves.

“Gary [Mundy] and his team at GEC provided the guidance and expertise we needed to navigate the intricate complexities involved in the design, permitting, construction, and ultimate operation of an after-market parts distribution and logistics facility of this scale.”
